The American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) is a society representing the professional interests of practicing geologists. Formed in 1963, the organization now represents 4,500 active and 500 retired members drawn from all areas of geologic practice - petroleum, mining, groundwater, environmental, and engineering geology.

The Nevada Section of AIPG is headquartered in Reno, Nevada and numbers 80 members, drawn principally from the fields of economic geology, hydrology, engineering and environmental geology.

The Section publishes a quarterly Newsletter and sponsors, from time to time, seminars and short courses on issues of practical interest to professional geologists.
